Moving From Charisma To Character
Have you ever been in a slump in your life? Like you see people succeeding and hitting their goals, but you just seem to be at a stand still?
For me, it didn’t come down to how hard I worked because I was constantly working hard to achieve my goals. It came down to the the person that I was and the person I was going to become. On the outside, a lot of people would see a pretty happy person or someone trying to always get better, and both of those are true. However, something I learned, with the help of my friend Vanessa, was something that changed my life, and that was the difference of having charisma vs. character.
In my company, I actually became a top Silver Director income earner and was invited to speak at an event a few months before the event was going to happen. I was pretty nervous when I was invited because I wanted to actually practice what they wanted me to preach on.
During this season in my life, I was going through some tough times in my relationship with my girlfriend because of a choice I had made. I believe everything happens for a reason. I knew I needed to learn from this experience and work to become a person that I would be proud of. At the perfect timing, I came across an audio from Jim Rohn that completely rocked my world called “Cultivating an Unshakable Character.” Jim Rohn is one of my favorite people to listen to and learn from. This specific audio went straight to my heart, and I applied what I learned right away. I would listen to the entire audio, which was about 6 hours, everyday; I knew that it was going to be a game changer for me. I did my very best to practice everything that it taught.
I made it a goal to run for a promotion in my company that would basically double the income that I was currently making on a monthly basis, and do it by a week before I actually got on stage to speak in front of close to a 1,000 hungry entrepreneurs.
By changing my character, I started attracting better people into my life: people more similar on the path that I was on with personal development and wanting to be their best. I was able to hit that promotion, and was SO happy! When I was invited to speak on stage about my promotion and the newly found success that I was having, I made sure to give credit where credit was due, and that was to Jim Rohn, his audio, and Vanessa. I would NOT have been able to share my heart in front of all those people if I didn’t go through what I did, if I was not open to learning how not to repeat that same mistake, and if I was not willing to learn what it would take to be a man of character, and not just a person with charisma.
I would love for you to check out the audio I listened to, take notes on what Jim Rohn is speaking on, and let me know what you liked best about it and how you can apply it to your own life. After you do that, I want to learn from you, so post your “ah ha” moments on my Facebook or tweet me! Keep your eyes on the prize, and keep bettering your best! We need super geniuses like you.
